Uni Survival Kit - The Ultimate Student Checklist

Are you getting ready to make the big move to Uni? Exam results are in, you got the grades and now you're off on a new life journey. It's a pretty big deal and it's going to be the best years of your life!

But, what do you take with you? Where do you start with the packing? In this post, I hope to help you pick up everything you need for your first adventure away from home.

First things to pack are the important documents such as passport, driving licence or some form of ID, also all of your student finance and accommodation documents, your university acceptance letter, your bank details, bank card and passport photos.

If you're just moving to student halls, you'll find things like a microwave, kettle and sometimes even an iron will be provided. Best to double check though. If they don't offer any of these things, Argos are offering free iron when you buy a Russell Hobbs Bundle. (Bundle being a Russell Hobbs Microwave, Kettle and Toaster).

Some things you will be needing are items for the bedroom such as a duvet, pillow, sheets, duvet covers and towels. You might even want to take an alarm clock or some sort of audio equipment? To kill two birds with one stone and keep packing light, this Sony ICF-C18 Cube Block Radio is an ideal purchase. Other handy items include a laundry basket, clothes horse, desk lamp, waste bin and a hot water bottle.

Electrical items are also on the list. A Laptop and charger so you can do your uni work and also enjoy a bit of downtime for some netflix and chill. Extension leads, phone and hair styling tools are also part of the survival kit. A printer is useful to have as well.

You'll most likely know which items of clothing you want to take with you, but here's a short list that might give you a few extra ideas...
  • Swimwear.
  • Slippers.
  • Dressing gown.
  • Suit or formal wear.
  • Bag or rucksack.
  • Fancy dress items (There's always a fancy dress school disco at freshers week).
I've put together a full Ultimate Student Checklist which you can download and print off, to make sure you don't miss anything. Have you thought of anything else that needs adding to the list? Let me know in the comments below.
